⌖ PoleSight

Camera-assisted height survey
LOCAL · NO UPLOADS
Camera off—° elevation
Center the pole tip on the crosshair.
Hold steady, then capture the angle.

Start the camera and enable tilt on your phone. Manual entry works without sensors.

Measurement setup

To calibrate, aim at a point at camera height with the camera level, then tap Set level. Rear camera only.

ESTIMATED ABOVE-GROUND HEIGHT— m

Enter a distance and aim at the pole tip.

No angle captured.

How to measure accurately
  1. Measure the horizontal distance to a vertical pole. A sloping ground distance is different.
  2. Enter camera height in metres (130 cm = 1.30 m). Use the same ground elevation as the pole base; this mode assumes level ground unless you know the elevation difference.
  3. Enable tilt and check calibration against a level reference. Center the actual pole tip, keep still, and capture.
  4. Height = distance × tan(elevation angle) + camera height above pole base level.

The crosshair is an aiming guide; this app does not automatically recognize or track poles. Tilt measures the rear camera viewing direction using phone orientation. Camera alignment and sensor error affect accuracy. Validate against a known height before field use. This calculates visible height, excluding buried pole length.

Camera and sensors require a supported browser and a secure context: HTTPS on a phone, or localhost on the device running the server. A phone opening a PC’s plain HTTP LAN address usually cannot use them. No images or readings leave this app. Saved numeric readings remain in this browser until cleared.
